Get a first impression of this ancient city during an easy going walking tour
Our meeting point should be at Plaza de la Marina, as this is the central square located at few footsteps from the Cruise Ship Port, the main shopping street Larios and the historical centre.
I suggest to start the visit at the local indoor market, in order to see how the locals organize their daily way of life. Such an amazing place to our visitors, to see the fresh fish, colorful fruits and vegetables, this is truly amazing to see! The building¡g itself is worthwhile to be seen, as it contains partly remains of the Moorish Kingdom of Granada as there were the shipyards located in the middle ages. (only open on labour days, in the morning hours). Across the street, we will meet the locals having churros & chocolate, so you may choose if you wish to wish to join them for a break. Calle Nueva and Larios street are the heart of the town for shopping lovers, and you may wish to return after the visit..
Let's continue then to Plaza del Obispo where we contemplate the principal façade of our impressive Cathedral, popularly called "Our one armed Lady", officially Cathedral of Encarnation, one of Spain's most import Renaissance Cathedrals. If you wish, we can add the visit to the interior (admissions to be paid at the site and not included). From the Cathedral, we will follow the footsteps of Picasso, here in his birth town, coming along the Picasso Museum*, before we reach the Alcazabilla street with the Roman Theatre & Alcazaba.
1500 years of history: from the first century of the Roman emperor Augustus, to the late years of the Kingdom of Granada, all at one sight! In case you wish to visit the interiors of the Alcazaba, we can visit it together (admissions to be paid on the site and not included). Returning along the Park Avenue with its splendid Botanical gardens, and the Palmtree promenade of surprises within the Port area, we will end at any place you wish, or at the Marina square, where we started the tour.
Malaga is flat, so this walking tour is not strenuous, and is suitable for a wheel chair and perfectly adaptable to your walking capacities.
